Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women, killing 600,000 Americans every year. About 720,000 Americans have a heart attack in a given year, and 26.6 million American adults have diagnosed heart disease. High blood pressure, high LDL cholesterol and smoking are key risk factors for heart disease. Because 49% of Americans have at least one of these three risk factors, it’s highly likely you’ll see cardiac patients in your medical practice.
