At the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives' 2014 Fall CIO Forum this week, stakeholders said the policy agenda for health care CIOs is focused around meaningful use, cybersecurity, ICD-10 and patient safety, Healthcare IT News reports.
Under the 2009 economic stimulus package, providers who demonstrate meaningful use of certified electronic health records can qualify for Medicaid and Medicare incentive payments.

During the forum, Jeff Smith -- vice president of public policy at CHIME -- said Medicare penalties under the meaningful use program, which are scheduled to start in 2015, are the most important issue for CHIME.
