Why Your Medical Practice Should Already be Training on ICD-10-MDeverywhere

October 30, 2014/in MDe Insights /by MDeverywhere

Mastering the complexity and granularity of the ICD-10 will require a tremendous amount of study and practice. Starting now will give physicians and practice teams the needed time to prepare at a steady and reasonable pace.  The ICD-10-CM revision includes more than 68,000 diagnostic codes, compared to 13,000 in ICD-9-CM. In addition, ICD-10-CM includes twice as many categories and introduces alphanumeric category classifications for the first time.

The better educated and trained everyone is, the more likely the transition will be a smooth one without the significant reductions in productivity and – potentially – cash flow.  Starting now will help your practice avoid the sort of panicked cramming that is likely to lead to chaos on October 1, 2015.
