The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services issued a rule finalizing October 1, 2015 as the new compliance date for health care providers, health plans, and health care clearinghouses to transition to ICD-10.  Preparing a facility for ICD-10 coding transition is a vast undertaking, which requires planning and team work from all facility clinicians, coders, and staff.  This transition will affect the coding used by all healthcare providers.  CRNAs should familiarize themselves with the coding changes, be aware of the steps their facility is undergoing, and be part of the transition team, ensuring anesthesia representation.  Below are resources which can help a facility prepare for ICD-10 transition.
